Fish, Anybody?

Before you guys think that I am cooking/serving fish here.. it is just a few pics from our vacation.

We had been to a seaside place near here and everywhere we looked we could see fish. Be it, fish and chips or people fishing or the fish at the Sea life centre.. Here’s a few from the Sealife Centre. I am assuming that not many of you would be interested in Fish and Chips 🙂

P1020272A Ray fish – which Poohi insists on calling Raymond!

P1020273These fish were almost transparent – not clear in the photograph, sadly.

P1020281Penguins! I love the way they waddle 🙂

P1020292Look at that naughty seal peaking out 🙂 They were a treat to watch!

P1020302A spider crab which freaked out Poohi – she is terrified of spiders.

P1020309A snake headed turtle – it’s head did look a lot like a snake.

P1020310A bunch of little turtles – they looked incredibly cute as they swam around.

P1020318And finally a sea horse.

Am sure I would have bored you all thoroughly with these, but I don’t know what it is about aquariums.. There is something incredibly peaceful about them.. Must be the green and blue all around. And the fact that nature has such beautiful and diverse treasures. Some so tiny, some huge, all lovely and beautiful in their own way and doing their bit in maintaining the ecological balance. Surely, mankind must the only species which, by its actions does more harm than good….

On a different note, its festivals everywhere! Happy Eid to every one.  Happy Durga Puja and Navaratri! Hope all of you have a lovely festive season!

Celebrating summer..

Or the few days of sunshine that we get in the name of summer 🙂

We check the weather the first thing every weekend. Checking the night before is no good, it sometimes changes even within that span 😦

If it is sunny, we set off, and get to see others enjoying the weather like this 🙂 See the clear blue skies? Such a treat to see that.

P1010132

Only to realise that a lot of others have the same idea.  So we sit in a traffic jam , crawling, coering 4 miles in 45 minutes. There was also an office space sort  situation, with the traffic, video below for more information 🙂 After a point, we decided to relax and enjoy the weather.

P1010137

Or drive through country roads where the speed limit is 60 mph, but we could never dream of driving at that 😦

P1010207

Driving through country roads that looked( see that puddle in the side of the road?) and smelt (of cowdung) like Indian roads 🙂

P1010210

Driving aimlessly through the yorkshire dales and ending up in a quaint little town, with a square like this..

P1010226

And a church like this…

P1010230

And wrapping up the trip outside with some park side fun 🙂

P1010279

And it’s all going to come to an end soon :(I am going to miss these summer days so much!

PS: Have not yet reached the comments on the previous posts – had a busy weekend. Will get there  – I promise. (Disclaimer especially for Hitchy’s notice 😉

Up in the clouds

Inspired by Swaram’s pictures taken from the plane, I decided to post some of ours, taken sneakily from the plane 🙂 Husband is fascinated by it and there is a constant fight when we travel about who gets the window seat 🙂

These are all his handiwork 🙂

Some mountains we saw on our way to India on oue of our trips.

Over the English landscape.

DSC02622

That’s the River Thames, and I think it is the Docklands that we can see right below the plane.

DSC02615

We love seeing other planes so near us 🙂

And the rest are not technically from the clouds – but we were so high up that we had clouds around us 🙂 These were on Jungfrau, Switzerland. There was a blizzard up there.

DSC08576

This is what we saw.

DSC08580

This was what we were supposed to see- this is a photograph of a photograph.  And just a couple of days bask – there was even a cricket match up there. When we went there – all we saw was snow 🙂

These were from the train – on the way to Jungfrau.

So , how about we do this as a tag, and all of you share your – Up in clouds pics ?

Wish List for the next birth :)

Some time back, in my working avataar,  me and a colleague were stuck at work at 12:00 in the night and he said, ‘ These are the times that I wish I had a wife to go home to – who would keep dinner ready for me..’ and I replied, ‘Yeah, so do I’!

Well, husband and I have a pact that next ‘janam’, we are going to reverse genders – he is going to be the woman and I the man 🙂 So that I get to laze around, have a complete monopoly over the remote and not do any cooking!!!

Now that  Vimmuuu and Hitchy and Indyeah have all tagged me to come up with a list of women I would want to drool at – if I were a guy, here goes my list, on which hubby could probably model himself 🙂 Prep guide for the next birth 🙂

1. Nigella Lawson – Doesn’t she give the word ‘Domestic Goddess’ another meaning? Wow!! to be married to someone who looks and cooks like that and a business woman to boot,  must be paradise, don’t you think 🙂 Anyone who does not know Nigella Lawson – go check her  out 🙂 And check out that sundae in the pic!! Isn’t that droolworthy??? And I have tried out her recipes – yummy!!!

nigella

2. Michelle Obama – Everything that I have read about her just makes admire her so.  She is brilliant at her job at the same time, doing a wonderful job bringing up her children. People have slated her for her lack of style.. but she remains a powerful woman who in her husband’s own words, if she ever ran for public office, would do far better than him… She seems to strike that perfect balance between work and life.  Her husband’s words in his book, ‘The Audacity of Hope’ just made my admiration of her grow..

3. Shobana. One of the most intelligent, talented and gorgeous actresses! She also an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer. Here’s more about her.

4. Sushmita Sen – Another thinking actress. I had found the fact that she adopted her daughter very very noble. Here’s the lady with her lovely daughter 🙂

5. Charlize Theron. I find her gorgeous and found her portrayal of the serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the movie, Monster, mind-blowing! She was completely transformed!

So there you go, that’s my drool-worthy list 🙂

PS: I can’t believe that I have actually spent my whole saturday in front of the laptop!!

Edited to add : Vimmuuu – I have sacrificed my whole saturday – to rescue you from where you are trapped 🙂

If only I could…

live in an idyllic village like this.. and spend time gazing out of the window….

or this….

DSC08961

Isn’t there something about the water that has a totally calming feel to it?

And one more – with a sea  – as the others don’t work for Winnie the Poohi 🙂

Edited to add : The first two pics are from Switzerland. Taken from the train journey between Interlaken and Luzern. The last one is from Wales.
