Women, be warned!

It is depressing to read the news these days. So now that women have been told to not be out after 8 pm, in Gurgaon. What next?

Cover every inch of skin between 8 am and 8 pm to be safe? Or better still, how about women just stay indoors – that should be a foolproof way!

The whole attitude of the establishment is astounding, to say the least. They are responsible for the safety of the country’s citizens, and no, asking people to stay indoors is not ensuring safety. Why do we need police if this is the solution that the government comes up with? Oh I forgot, all that our governments are good at, is moral policing, and preventing freedom of speech. After all when so much time and energy is lost in figuring out if women wearing Western clothes are distracting, or in figuring out which politician was insulted in FB or twitter, who has the time to worry about people getting raped. Not the police for sure!

After all, it is the victim’s fault for being at that place, at the wrong time, and who knows, her visible ankle must have been too much for a man(or a bunch of men) to resist! Or worse still, she works late, now that is unpardonable, she needs to learn a lesson. Police? Well, what can they do, it was after 8:00 pm, you see.

And of course, all crime will stop the moment women disappear from the streets. So all us women, should remember not to be around after 8, who knows who might get tempted by our mere presence. We shouldn’t make the police and the establishment’s job harder than it is.

      • because , and dont shoot me please .. the law is weak.. rape is a maximum of 6-7 years of jail and that too after years of running around the court…

No, you make perfect sense. The law is weak, and the law enforcement even weaker.

and then a hot shot lawyer comes and if you have money the culprit can still get away with it ..

Absolutely! If people can get away with murder- a rape is small time!

so till the LAW is changed nothing will happen, the fear has to be to not do such things..

So many things have to go hand in hand, law, law enforcement, police reforms – and unless govts have the will, nothing will change. And they will never have the will, as far as criminals sit in the Parliament.

we can have rally’s dharnas anything whatsoever Till that fear comes back This will keep happening…

So since the govt cant change the law they have given a way around it and declared this just ot ease their GUILT as they are responsible for the law of the place.

everyone is more concerned that no one says to them they are not doing anything .. that is more important.. ACTUALLY doing something about a problem no one gives a damn .. and this is true in every other phase tooo ..

thats is why i said MERA BHARAT MAHAAAN …

It is such a sad state of affairs.. It scares me..

  1. A friend (re)tweeted that maybe all men should be told to stay at home after 8 pm – after all they are the ones committing the crimes! Or….as another friend commented…maybe all of us should just lock ourselves up at home all the time. That way there’d be no crimes (outside one’s homes anyway).
How are these for more idiotic solutions?

  2. Well, should I say am glad I am not living there?
This is ridiculous. And so are the other decisions of most law-makers!?! When there was a robbery at or home, they asked us why we had not hidden the laptop below the sofa and such other things 😯

    • What scares me is that if one state govt is allowed to get away with this sort of thing, how long before others follow – easy way out, isn’t it?

  3. its annoying and irritating and the condescneding tone is plain BS.
The decision has been taken by a lady, no less! (unless I’m mistaken)
I have stopped reading our News. It just makes me angry and the rage, because I’m helpless to do anything is not a good thing!

  4. I just can’t imagine how they are ever going to do what they are paid for with such mindsets. I wonder if now women will not be available as doctors, nurses, saleswomen, security staff in malls, air hostesses, pilots etc after 8pm in Gurgaon. They really seem to think absence of women from public spaces will make these places safer for women :\

How they can even think that, is beyond me. It just goes to show how our authorities thrive on short term solutions for everything. Instead of doing things that will actually make a difference -they want to take the easiest way out. I wonder if they even thought it through before advocating that women should not work beyond 8. The silliest solution possible!

I hope to see some serious protests – strong enough to make these irresponsible public servants be forced to attend some basic awareness classes about crimes, and about what actually helps control crimes.

That is exactly what we we need!

  5. Instead of catching the thieves a policemen said to me rudely why i am wearing gold chain, this is our system. Our system won’t change nor people want the change.People who fight for the change will be killed like the young IPS office in Bhopal.

So women don’t venture out after 8.00,cover yourself from head to toe, keep the gold in the house and don’t wear it out inspite of one covering fully and also please don’t take professions which involve them to stay late at the work place, let the men do the job of nurses, air hostess,Doctors etc…So that when men go out after 8.00 don’t find a women to rape…

  6. How pathetic we have become!!! Instead of putting the men behind the bars govt asking us to be behind the doors!!!

For this why we need a government?? 🙄 🙄

  7. I am so glad I don’t live in Delhi anymore. This is so pathetic! I feel like bashing up that moron!! 😡

For every one step we progress, we seem to go backwards 10 steps!! 🙄 😐

So, what do you think?
