Never heard or seen an inedible banana plant! This one looks really beautiful!
I loved it – I took loads of pics. These arefrom my mother’s garden.
And BTW, you meanie, you want to make me jealous with all this foggy wintery look to your blog, alle?? Not fair not fair 😦 😦 Wait till I put pics of sunshine and lots and lots of sunshine all over my blog 😛
Deeps, I can’t tell you how depressing this cloudy, gloomy look is 😦 Every time I glance out, this is what I see, gloomy, grey and wet 😦 Anything for some splashes of colour and sunlight!
Lovely lovely header! Wayanad, but obvious, right??
Yes, we had been to a resort – just for a night before Nishant returned, and this was part of the view from our room 🙂
i saw this in our kerala visit too.. in the spice garden. our guide told us that its called the magical banana as it grows upwards unlike the edible one that always hangs down due to gravity.. yes its in-edible and doesnt grow beyond this..
I thought I commented on this post! How did I miss it? I distinctly remember seeing this picture. Have I been dreaming?? Gosh!!!
Lovely pic, btw. That’s banana, right?
lovely pic Smitha! I had seen these plants in Kerala but did not have such a pretty picture.
The new look is great… it reflects the gloomy skies, but your pictures are full of color.
It is up now. Sorry guys, half mypost went missing. Some older version got published and there were no drafts either 😦 So had to remove it and redo it. Did not get any time last night, so had to let it be until now.

Lovely pic by the way…
Are these those medicinal bananas, the red ones…
when you say edible, ornamental…
Not that I know of, everybody I asked said that they were not edible and were simply decorative :)Let me know if you hear otherwise 🙂
I overlooked the in of the in-edible in your reply to Nu 😉
Hey, I thought I saw a book review that turned up on my reader, but when I landed here, it wasn’t there?!
The book review vanished:P
Even for me, the book review popped in my reader, but gone from here…but I see a few comments, which are marked Private… 🙄
I think it says ‘Page not found’ nw 😛 😛

🙂 🙂
Wow! a very interesting picture 😛
Had never seen an ornamental Banana before 😀 😀
My question is “what happens if we bite into it?” Will our mouth explode or will the bananas stink inside our belly? ;roll:
Why is it inedible Smithu? why O why a red banana like this would go waste? 😥
Can it be eaten? doesn it have seeds inside? Ohhhhh i so miss the taste of juicy bananas with a hint of rawness 😦
Wow..haven’t seen red banana’s for a while. It is hard to get it in US.Is it in your back yard?
these banana variety plants are beautiful 🙂
