Early Start

I think, I have started agreeing with other mums that our children do seem to on the ‘early start’ mode more than I would have liked to.

My 4.5 year old’s 4.5 year old friend in response to my question, ‘So have you made new friends at your new school?’ replies, ‘ No, but I did make a boyfriend’!

My 4.5 year old was not impressed, ‘Boyfriend? Boys Β are NOT fun!’. Thank god for that. May that attitude last another 16 years and we can breathe a sigh of relief πŸ˜‰

Even if they don’t care about ‘Boys’ they do seem to care about ‘makeup’. Poohi and a friend were busy pretend playing ‘buying makeup’. Although how she picked that up is beyond me! I NEVER ‘buy makeup’ the way they are pretending to! Β All the crayons and pencils are the ‘makeup’ that they are trying on!

  1. Now back to comment πŸ˜‰ Gosh, Smitha, you do have a breather.. atleast Poohi thinks boys are boring now. Good for you!!! Wait another year and things might just change! When I went to drop off R at school, 3 girls came to say Hello to him, and his sweet teacher even made a comment about it and ended it with a ‘Oooooohh’ πŸ˜‰ LOL!!

  2. Oh yes! It’s an early start now-a-days and more so for girls. I see that boys are still a step behind the girls in these matters. We’ll have a learn and de-learn a lot of things as they grow up!

  3. lucky you..poohi says boys are boring. ….
I truely wish she remain same for next few yrs atleast πŸ™‚
    Hopefully πŸ™‚ Fingers crossed!

And good that she is pretending to buy makeup not forcing you to go and buy for her πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

No, she knows what she can get away with and what she cannot πŸ™‚

  4. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
Poohi is such a sweetheart Smithus! πŸ˜€
Boys are not fun will stick for another few more years!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Hopefully, Pix! And it’s wonderful to see you here πŸ™‚

  5. Boyfriends at 4.5 years :O.. I would totally agree with you, I hope the other gender remains uncool for my future kid(s) till they are 16 πŸ˜›

Guess, thats what all us parents(and would be) would hope for πŸ™‚

  6. She has started mingling with other children, so the ‘buying’ make-up word must have fancied her.
Yes, I do think she picked it up from her friends.

Boy-friend thing be, they will discuss without knowing the meaning…mothers have to cross all these stages. Poohi is a good kid and your kid…try to take everything easily, atleast for some more years and enjoy her antics! You have got so many friends here to share your experiences!!

πŸ™‚ That is what I am hoping for, and you are all there to come for advise πŸ™‚

    Take care.

    You too, Sandhya

  7. Oh God…really Smithu…these girls are really too fast…Boyfriend at less than 5 yrs… πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚ Looks like the latest cool attitude… πŸ˜‰

Please! I need some more boy-friend free years πŸ™‚

I dont know, make-up never was a fancy thing with my girls…even now, they dont use any cosmetics…I dont know how things will turn later…

Poohi has never been interested in makeup much. So I was surprised that they were playing it..

    Hugs to Poohi…get her some child-friendly make-up set na… πŸ™‚

No n, I prefer her to be ignorant of things like makeup for a little longer pls πŸ™‚

  8. Poohi is into make-up buying?? heee I love watching little girls when they do all this pretend play. Once I was watching my neighbour’s 5 yr old playing shopping and almost had a punctured bladder when she went up to her “salesgirl” friend and said “I would like to see a Cup 36” 😯

Poohi is not into makeup buying – this was the first time I saw them playing it. LOL! CUP 36″ – someone has been observing lots!!!

Ohh the BF/GF thing is getting on my nerves. I have no idea what will happen to my mental state when this boy turns 16 πŸ˜₯

    Same here 😦

  9. I think this is what I fear..Like you won’t teach your children all the stuff but they’ll get it from peers and other sources !

Though it’s cute at times but makes you think, isn’t it ?

  10. I guess every generation thinks that of the next, what with exposure and all. But boyfriend and make up at age 4! Too much. Wonder what’s going to happen when I have a kid :-s

  11. Err I dnt even want to tell them when i made my first BF πŸ˜› They mite call me olddddd-fashioned then πŸ˜‰
First ur hairstyle and nw their own make-up wah wah!

  12. Another 16 years??? LOL πŸ˜€ That would REALLY pushing your luck !!!

Haha even I used to love makeup as a kid. Funny how I picked it up…coz my mom never used to like it. Well all that changed when i turned utterly tomboyish during my teenage and dropped the makeup mania. The effects last till this day and my dad keeps complaining about the good old days! πŸ™‚ LOL

  13. LOL, Smits!! Know what, Poohi has company in Namnam in her ‘BOYS are not fun’ attitude and you have company in me in wishing that attitude would stay for another 16years πŸ˜€

Lets hope our combined wishes work:)

The other day I asked her if she had made any friends in school and she started listing down names of all these girls, and when I asked if she didnt have any boys in her class, she just blurted out,’ Oh, boys are not my friends, they dont play, they always fight!’

I know! Same here! She refuses to have anything to do with boys πŸ™‚ I’m certainly not complaining πŸ™‚

  14. πŸ™‚ My girl is 3.5,so im yet to hear such dialogues..It is fun watching kids grow…

    Lucky you, Nimmy πŸ™‚

How are you Smitha…How is Poohi??

Am good, Nimmy, How about you?

  15. Well..cute poohhi..as you said, let her feel the same for another 16yrs…Boys are fun ..she is right

But girls are…That is what aryan feels. He even notices the color of the hair clip his friend wears on a particular day and next day insist me to wear the same!!!! tough time for me till he meeet his girl friend…..

  16. awww she is so cute, i love when little girls play with makeup

She never touches my make up normally, so I was quite surprised to see them play that – guess it was her friend’s idea πŸ™‚

a freinds 6 yr old nephew was very sad because a girl in the class kissed another guy (thankfully on the cheek) and became his gf πŸ˜‰

LOL! That is so cute!!! Goodness! Kids do learn early these days!
