Blooming marvelous!

Is there anything prettier than flower blossoms all around?

These days, it is rose season here. Every house has roses blooming. Some even have roses on their hedges. I keep seeing some lovely, lovely roses on hedges. The only preventing me from clicking pictures is the fear that I might offend somebody.

Roses everywhere reminded me of a poem we had in some class in school. I think it was Class4. My school principal handled the English class just for a day, and she was going through this poem. I don’t recall the name or the poet, but I remember the way she explained the context of the poem. She explained how in England, roses were found on hedges, and they bloom everywhere. Knowing how much trouble my mother used to take to grow and tend to her roses, I remember being amazed that roses could bloom like that! And that stuck in my mind, for all these years.

When I first came to the UK, I was stunned by the beauty of the place in spring and summer. It looked like every plant bloomed and my teacher was right, there are roses in hedges. I have some in my garden, which I did nothing to nurture, it was probably planted years ago, and then they bloomed, and  I could not believe my eyes. So many blooms, so many buds yet to bloom. Leaving you with a few pictures.

  1. He he, was at dinner then and didn’t want to lose my ‘first’ position! Did the same at Monu’s blog.

    What dedication 🙂

Yeah, so.. I loved this post Smitha. Infact I believe the Nablopomo thing has made you blossom into a wonderful writer 🙂 (you were great even earlier, but during the last few days, your posts are simply beautiful. I find them sensible, sensitive, mature and straight from the heart! )Keep writing!!!

I hope you are not saying that I should continue the NaBloPoMo 🙂 That would be the surest way to get me to stop writing 🙂 Thanks loads, Pals, coming from someone like you, that is a HUGE compliment 🙂

  2. oh yes..I too see them everywhere..and they are huge..so pretty.

I know! They are everywhere, even in roundabouts 🙂 I wish I had an auto-cam in my car, which could take pics, while I drive.

    Lovely flowers….

Thanks to my landlady, I guess 🙂

  3. Beautiful, beautiful, beauuuutiful pictures. Looks like real, esp. the last one! Though it is very difficult to grow roses here, in Chennai, I had been lucky to have them at home in my balcony, when I was in Bangalore! I used to come down running, from upstairs when some 10-15 goats crossed our road…to grab their No.2 and elephant’s too! It used to be very hot! I used to take a small bucket and muram (what is it called in English?!) I had competition from my neighbouring friend in this work! I was very young to enjoy doing all these things. The area was not crowded (around 1978!) like it is now!

  4. Absolutely gorgeous pics Smiths. That poem and many other stories we read ensured a particular image of UK always stayed in my mind and it is really really close to ur first pic 🙂
