I’d forgotten..

….how wonderful it is to get totally wet in the rain.

Today, on the way back from the nursery, the skies opened up suddenly and we were drenched from top to toe. We had raincoats, knowing the unpredictable UK weather – but it was of no use. Just 5 mins of heavy heavy rain and we were drenched through πŸ™‚ And both of us loved it!

For me it had been a while since I got wet like this, for Poohi, it was literally the first time. She is normally safely inside the buggy, but since the time I hid away the buggy – this is the first time, we got caught in the rain. It was so much fun, to let her jump in the puddles and and whoops of joy as her clothes got wetter πŸ™‚ Just 5 mins but it was one awesome 5 mins! For a while, we could see the rains go away, as in there was no rain where we were, but we could see the heavy rains a little ahead of us. That was one wonderful sight. I remember somebody telling me how their front yard gets rain while the back yard doesn’t – this felt just like that.

We took 45 mins to walk back that 0.75 miles, but it was totally worth it πŸ™‚ And getting wet in the rain was not the only thing, we also managed to spot around 20 snails. And the fact that it was a warm day made all the difference.

If only I had known, I would have carried some shampoo πŸ˜‰

  2. yet to read the post as I am excited to see nobody commented first and I am liesurely put the first 3 comments πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

Your excitement is coming through πŸ™‚

  3. /*I remember somebody telling me how their front yard gets rain while the back yard doesn’t*/

    LOL πŸ˜† totally unpredictable πŸ˜€
I know πŸ™‚ and it was wonderful πŸ™‚

and Poohi loved the rain… wow.. and she will remember this first time πŸ™‚ she is a sweet kid.. hugs to her πŸ™‚
She loved it – for a minute she did not know what to do – then she got all excited at getting wet πŸ™‚

/*If only I had known, I would have carried some shampoo*/

exact mom’s thoughts, never lets the kid πŸ‘Ώ LOL πŸ˜†

I know I am an evil mom 😦

  4. 20 snails…. did you got the picture Smitha???

I did not 😦 I did not have my camera with me. and to be honest I did not even think of taking a pic – I could have used my phone 😦

/*For a while, we could see the rains go away, as in there was no rain where we were, but we could see the heavy rains a little ahead of us. */

seems like you were chasing the rain πŸ˜†

Yes, it was like that πŸ™‚ and really heavy rain too!

    • Never worry… next time never forget that πŸ™‚
and remember your phone has camera facility πŸ˜€

Will try and remember that πŸ™‚

seems to be 6th also mine.. equalling the record of Dhiren bhai πŸ˜€
Yes, and that is some record πŸ™‚

  5. too cute πŸ™‚
so that was some unexpected mommy-daughter bonding time!

    Yes, it was πŸ™‚

its funny isnt it? how we in our childhood used to be mad, fall over several times, get drenched in the rain and grew up into perfectly normal adults. and now with the next generation too many ppl worry abt their kids getting soaked in the rain… in fact too many kids dont know the value of growing up close to nature.

Yes, I think we do keep children far more restrained 😦

I wouldn’t have minded her getting wet if it were not the weather here.. Believe me getting soaking wet in cold winters(has happened to me ) is no great thing 😦 But today was wonderful, it was a warm nice day – perfect to get wet πŸ™‚

glad to know atleast for those 5mins u werent one of those mommies… and poohi enjoyed her play in the puddles… the expression on her face must have been a delight to watch, rite? πŸ™‚

We both had a lovely time. Her expression was a treat to watch!

    • yes exactly… WHERE u live also makes a difference…
in kerala getting soaked in any climate doesnt matter…
      in freezing winters no way!

I know! where one lives makes all the difference 😦 Lousy place this is 😦

in fact there r ppl so used to bathing in cold water in kerala that they do it 4 temperatures too (delhi winter)! i cant imagine! * brrrrr *

My dad is one of them! His tolerance to cold water is amazing!

  6. getting wet in rain is wonderful na..
as we grow we forget to enjoy such small pleasures in life πŸ™‚
So true! I had forgotten how much fun it was!

i understand how good it might have felt u getting drenched along with Poohi..

    It was wonderful! Totally fun!

  7. oh I just love love love getting wet in rain and thankfully ojas loves it too

We never got a chance to get wet like this. Most of the time, it is so chilly and stepping out in the rain is a torture 😦

we are both often (i should rarely now though it hardly rains) seen sitting and running in the garden getting wet in rain.. one of my neighbors says come rain and u are not instead of most people who give in

Today, we did that – just let go and got wet πŸ™‚ and it was wonderful – coz it was a nice and warm day -its bright and sunny again now πŸ™‚

    its a divine feeling

    oh it totally is!

  8. Lol shampoo,u would have spolied her fun

πŸ™‚ She would never step into the rain then πŸ™‚

Even i love smitha getting drenched in the rain, once varunavi was very small and we both went out knowing that it is raining and got drenched and later mom took a big class

Oh πŸ™‚ I can imagine your mom being angry at the two of you πŸ™‚

  9. Questions:
    1) where u in a red sari like chameli waali kareena??
    2) how bad were your clothes smelling after you were soaked?
    3) did you have escargot with white sauce for dinner that night?

I hate rain. thank u very much.

    SJ, You are hilarious!
    1) where u in a red sari like chameli waali kareena?? No, sorry to disappoint you 😦 You really like that song don’t you πŸ™‚
    2) how bad were your clothes smelling after you were soaked? – We smelt lovely! UK rains are very cleansing πŸ˜‰
    3) did you have escargot with white sauce for dinner that night? The night has not come yet πŸ™‚ and we have leftovers 😦 too lazy to cook πŸ™‚

    • Oye,SJ rain haters are banned in the blogville…so hurrrrr..go away from here πŸ˜€ !!

πŸ™‚ Deeps, she might sue you for discrimination πŸ™‚

        • Deeps off to SJ’s space to do some Chameli-yagam for incessant rains to hit on her soil! buhahahaha..buhahahahahahaha !!!

πŸ™‚ That would be fun πŸ™‚ Deeps – watch out SJ might decide to relocate to where you are πŸ™‚

    • Bahhh SJ stop watching Alton Brown ok? I had to google to know what this Escargot thingy is?? I thought you were asking smiths if her husband had kinda escorted her to dinner for just white sauce?? *hitting my screwed up brain with a hammer*

LOL @ ‘if her husband had kinda escorted her to dinner for just white sauce??’

  10. “I remember somebody telling me how their front yard gets rain while the back yard doesn’t ” —– what exactly did you mean by that ??? Me thinks you have written something with double meaning here !!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Goodness! You have a twisted mind! I cannot, for the world, figure out any ‘double meaning ‘ here πŸ™‚

You wanted your shampoo ??? You like taking bath in the open ??? πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Atleast my open bath story was an accident πŸ˜‰

πŸ™‚ ha ha πŸ˜† You are too much! I am going to go and put a link to my shampoo story so that others don’t start wondering like you did here πŸ™‚

    • he did you a favour… atleast he was honest about it…
a lot of other ppl reading it wud keep their doubts to themselves… atleast now u have an opportunity to set it rite πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

I agree πŸ™‚ I am eternally grateful to Vimmuuu πŸ™‚ Have updated it with the link – just in case anybody else had Vimmuu’s doubt πŸ™‚

  11. Wow you really had great fun. Ohh I love the rains be it anywhere…I can totally go wild when it rains to the utter disgust of someone I shall not name here :(. But my son is just like me, we both can jump in puddles for eternity.

πŸ™‚ so someone does not like rain πŸ™‚ Here someone does not like any sort of activity that involves getting up from his lazy boy chair πŸ™‚

I have some rain pics which I am hoping will make it to my blog one fine hot summer day 😦
Please! where is that post we asked you for???

Hey what happened to all those commenting sensations? Can’t see any of them here..

All gone for the day I think 😦

  12. you really hate me,dont you,Smits?? you getting wet in the rains was not enough or what..you had to blog about it to make me go all red, maroon, lack blue, green and evrything with ‘J’ πŸ‘Ώ ??

Aiyo 😦 So sorry Deeps – I forgot that you lived in a no-rain zone 😦 Come here for a vacation – you’ll see so much rain that you’ll be dying to go back πŸ™‚

    njan mindilya …kutti 😦

Sorry sorry – please mindu πŸ™‚ If it is any solace – it is bright and sunny now πŸ™‚

    • Aioo Deeps don’t fret. Take a bottle of shampoo and jump in one of those fountains which are all over Dubai yaar. They will just think you are modelling for a shampoo ad like the Liril Soap ad…laa…la..la.laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Now that is a good one πŸ™‚ Or she might be deported for indecent behaviour 😦

      • Na UAE Arabs don’t mind such behaviours as long as it is not one of their female folks from their 20 odd homes πŸ™‚

That might be true πŸ™‚ LOL@ 20 odd homes – lucky guys no?

        • Is that what you were doing in Dubai? Taking showers in public fountains? u have pics? atleast post those in ur blog!

Alternative day time job πŸ™‚ Now that is one interesting job πŸ™‚ As for that Patni Vratha Pati – how about working that charm incase he does land here πŸ™‚

  13. Ah! How I envy you! As a kid, I simply loved getting wet in the rain. A little later, driving the bike in the rain was an experience that I enjoyed. Now, one has to be taken by surprise, like you were.

Oh yes! Those were the days πŸ™‚ I feel sad that poohi does not have that kind of fun here:( Maybe once we go back to India.

I think Poohi will remember this for for a very long time.
    I hope so.

    So will you!
    That I surely will!

  14. I love getting wet in the rain too! Your post reminded me of the time my daughter and I did something similar, and I took some pictures of her too … she was around four then πŸ™‚

Aww! I wish I had taken pics too 😦 It would have been wonderful to preserve the memory πŸ™‚

Shampooing in the rain would have ruined the fun of rains for Poohi πŸ™‚

    Sure it would πŸ™‚

  15. Love the rains and getting wet. Felt refreshed just reading about it. Stop being a super-mommy all the time…referring to your shampoo bit πŸ™‚ Poohi’s love for rains would dramatically alter if you even mention the s-word.

‘Stop being a super-mommy all the time…’ – I wish I were even trying πŸ™‚ Yes, her love for rains would change in a minute πŸ™‚

  16. Wow! Me too luvs getting drenched πŸ˜› ppl may think I am crazy bcoz I use the umbrella only as a prop for the rain dance ROFL πŸ˜€

He he he – do carry the shampoo next time πŸ˜‰

  17. πŸ˜› πŸ˜› πŸ˜›
    classic……. πŸ˜›
getting wet in the rain is something that is special πŸ˜› especially playing football in the slush, drinking alcohol πŸ˜› /tea in the rain is also equally great πŸ˜›

‘especially playing football in the slush’ -reminds me of what my school principal used to say – Football is an excuse for humans to roll in mud like pigs πŸ™‚

ROFL at vimuuu’s comment……. this guy comes up with the very best I tell ya…… πŸ˜›

    Yes he sure does:)

  18. Sometimes when it rains here, I don’t take my umbrella out of my bad and I pretend that I don’t have one, just so I can walk through in the rain. πŸ™‚

    Thats a nice one πŸ™‚

Plus it rained here all day yesterday. It was SO nice to just cosy up under the blanket with a hot cup of cocoa and a good book. πŸ™‚

Oh here – it rains in every season – so getting wet is no treat 😦 Yesterday was great coz the weather was also warm πŸ™‚

  19. Lovely lovely!! πŸ™‚

Hugs to both of you! You guys are adorable!!

Thanks Pixie! Hugs to you too!

  20. I am reminded of the days when, on seeing the approaching dark clouds, I along with my friends used to deliberately delay our return home after playing.

Getting wet is one thing, but it is also so refreshing to see the falling raindrops.

    Quirky Indian

I know , QI, it’s been a while since I had fun in the rain πŸ™‚

  24. Very recently, just after returning from work, skies started pouring. First I jusst ran for cover. But then I realized the pleasure it used to be, in good old days (!) when I used to get all drenched in rain.I threw may bag in shade and just ran to get wet.
And to my surprise, my colleagues also joined in
Evrybody loves being a child πŸ™‚

Welcome here, Dev πŸ™‚ Yes, we forget these simple pleasures as we grow up, don’t we?

  25. Rains are for delight of each one. Age is no bar.
Being monsoon in India, Mumbai has not got its share of the rain this year.
With the showers coming and going, getting drenched looks like a far lost dream.
but it rained today, we got wet, i did forgot that i was on my way to office, i got myself drenched. And i entered office.
Most people still think i came out of both shower, and it didn’t rain at all.

  26. OH I love getting wet in the rain , it reminded me of my college day, in the rainy season, almost everyday we used to come home all wet, then have a hot cuppa tea:)

Oh that sounds like so much fun πŸ™‚ Hot cuppa tea after getting wet in the rains – perfect πŸ™‚

  27. Hey i know it sounds kiddish or childish.. but whats your problem… you dont reply only to my comments ????????????????
