Ever had a weekend when you are on your feet the whole time, had not had a minute to really relax and end up in bed after a three day weekend with aching limbs , feeling, wow – that was one superb weekend?
That’s how we felt last evening! We had friends over for the long weekend and had the most wonderful time.. It was one of those friends with whomΒ you feel absolutely comfortable and can talk nonstop with π The funny thing is that we have not even met all that often between our jobs and children and everything – but with some people, you just connect.
The children had the most wonderful time, three little girls, one five year old, one three year old and one one year old, all playing and fighting for the same toys every once in a while,Β fighting sleepΒ , jumping on beds, making castles, and having the time of their lives! And we,grown-ups, decided not to waste time sight seeing and going around, instead lazed around at home, ate and ateΒ , and talked late into the night! I have never stayed up this late in the night in recent times π and just when you go to sleep and are in deep, deep slumber, daughter wakes up – ‘I’m hungry’!
And after all that fun, theΒ house feels empty and lonely after they’ve gone. Suddenly, the weekend is over and its back to business as usual… And theΒ best thingΒ – back to blogworldΒ π and once again I’ve got 1000+ unread posts in my reader π
wow!! Looks like you guys had a lot of fun!!! π
It’s been a long time since we did something like that…
hmm.. you gave me a lovely idea! Will see if we can squeeze in a couple of friends for the coming weekend, but, really doubtful, with the hubby working on Saturday…
Pixie – yes it was! And you know, it was fabulous!! Talking, cooking together – ordering takeaways outrageously and drinking loads of wine π – hubby claims that I pretend to drink – but I really did! All this despite having 3 little ones running around creating chaos π You should try and do it when you can – it was one of the best weekends we had π
My comment is teh first! yay!!
couldn’t accomplish that at Mandy’s place.. did it here! π
π Congrats!! I never seem to do it anywhere – I just commented at your place – hope its the first π
yours was the 3rd comment there!! π
Dew drop was the first! π
*sob* *sob* I’m never the first!!! *bawling*

Oh we don’t have this close friends in Leeds either – we just moved here in Oct. These friends came visiting from London π
‘its either shopping or movies or restaurants on sundays…’ – This is what happens most weekends for us too π¦ But it was a nice change, last weekend π
‘ and thanks to the restaurant… and eating like a mad man… had a stomach upset on Monday.. ‘ This is my husband story most weekends π
I beat DhirenBhai!! π yay!! π
LOL!
beware Pixie,
he will come behind you, if u call him ‘Bhai’ again π
I think Dhirenbhai has got used to being called Dhirenbhai by now π
I ll have to become like dawood bhai and send shooters behind all these behan’s…. bah !
WOW!
good that you enjoyed:)
“It was one of those friends with whom you feel absolutely comfortable and can talk nonstop with :)” it’s the same in my case. i go on and on with my friends..
Ah…i m feeling jealous now…Its been ages since we have this kinda get together at home with frens… π π
Oh, it had been sometime for us too π And you have more fun things to look forward too π Just 20 days to go? You must be waiting with bated breath π
yes 20days to go and each day i feel its really long…
last days are the toughest..U just become too impatient. π
I know! The last days are the worst – coz you are just so tired of the wait π But it will come soon enough:) Try and get as much rest as you can until then π
I thought smitha is having a long holidays after the driving test π
Great,it’s nice to hear that u have family friends there,i dont have anyone here whom i and my kids can spend. My cousin is there but his wife doesn’t wants to come out of there house,we go there sometimes
lol u have 1000+ to read??
Yes, we do have friends here – most of them are in London. Not so much in Leeds – but we do try and meet up with them π I am sure you will make friends there.. Most of our friends are colleagues or ex-colleagues:)
Yes 1000+ to read – today is quite busy too – the house is a complete mess π¦
You really had fun, didn’t you? superb way to have a weekend.
Had a wonderful time! We were all feeling quite low last evening after they left π¦
Aah, so that’s why no posts from you for 4 days! Jao…maaf kiya but aakhri baar haan… :p
I’ve not had that kinda weekend for quite some time now. Can imagine how much fun you guys musta had π
Masood – Shukriya – maaf karne ke liye π Arre, kuch zyaada hi maza aa raha tha – did not have the time nor the will to log on π Yes, we had not done this for ages too. Last time was during Christmas break – so it was a lot of fun π
I envy you, Smitha! We used to have this type of parties, when we were in Hosur (near Bangalore). We, three families with 6 kids used to enjoy holidays, like this. All the three ladies with kids used to go to Bangalore, eat, go to movies and come back at night.
We were staying in different colonies and our children were going to the same school. Once a month, the three of us ladies will prepare 2 dishes each, join in one house and used to enjoy! Now all the children are grown ups and are in different places. As you mentioned, some friendships click easily. Those times will never come back.
But I still have contact with those kids and we talk about old times.
Enjoy reading the 1000+ blogs (huh!).
I cam imagine the fun you must have had! I know Hosur – had been to Hosur long time back on a college trip. We had not had such a weekend for some time – and its not the same with everyone – these friends were really fun! Guess we are all lucky to have such wonderful friends to hang out with π Most of our friends are unfortunately in London – still to make this kind of close friends in Leeds π
Yes, 1000+ blogs and very little time to read π¦
We were in Hosur from 1983 to 89. The temperature used to be colder than Bangalore in those days. But it is not like that now and it has become dirtier with over population but minimal facilities. I enjoyed Hosur than anyother place, mostly because of the good friends, I had over there.
I can imagine! Over population and pollution has spoilt most towns/cities.. such a shame, isn’t it? I guess, the good times we have with friends is always what we end up remembering most about any place π
so we are back to 1000 + π
seems like a great party…. time spent with friends is just great!!!!
especially if wine is involved ;P
great to know that you are back π π
Yes – back to 1000 + – how does this happen???
It was a party across three days – long weekend π Our weekend just got over yest π
Yes, esp if wine is involved.. Wine is involved most weekends though – but friends make it better:)
Great to be back – have a lot of work you know – 1000+ π¦
I’m glad that you had a fun weekend, Smitha! And also glad that you’re back here! π
Yes, Manju, Fantastic weekend – and I am glad to be back too π
1000+ ???? how are you going to manage work at home now ????? π
I know Vimmuuu!!! Can’t help it- work at home will have to take a backseat π
What a dream weekend!! Love such times, and nothing is as great as when the father, the kids and the mothers all are friends !! We too have friends like this and ages of memories with them π
Yes- I agree! That is the key – ‘father, the kids and the mothers all are friends !! ‘ π Thats the best kinds:) It was a dream weekend π
Love such weekends even when they are hectic. Actually I just love weekends. π
You had a long weekend? How come? Oh boy! I am so waiting for May last week for our long weekend. 4 days of absolute bliss and goodbye to technology and just family time.
Isn’t it nice when kids too like their company? That is perfect combo. Now that kids are growing up, it is difficult to push them to play with someone they don’t like so it is fun when parents as well as children find the company good. So you chatted, cooked, ate and had fun!
The pain after that was worth then π
Me too – I love weekends in all shapes and sizes π We have 2 long weekends in May(Early May Bank Holiday and Spring Bank Holiday) – and after that nothing until end of August:(
It is great when kids have company too.. How our criteria has changed over the years π Now, any plans are based on whether or not Poohi will have fun too or not – though she is quite accomodating.. she generally has fun – but its much better when there are other kids she can have fun with π yes, the pain was absolutely worth it:)
That must have been some great time! π
I am going to have those too starting from May
yippee! :))
I agree with some friends one just connects…distances …time..nothing matters π
1000+ posts?*gapes*
all the very best! π
(((hugs)))for you and hugs for Poohi π
Oh it was wonderful! You too! So full plans of enjoying your hols π Have the summer hols started there? Lucky you! Have a wonderful time!
Hugs to you too π
LoL! You weekend sounds like mines BUT I only got 1 day of fun. I went home friday. The whole of friday went with shopping, travelling and then chatting to my father til 1am or 2am. Then waking up early the next day and spending the whole day at a reception party and linking with long lost cousins who you haven’t seen for nearly 2 yrs. Then working the whole of sunday with no proper break due to being short staffed. Plus working the whole of bank holiday monday and then going to cousin’s house for his birthday. Then waking up at 5am today to come back to hostel on the train. It’s fun and nice BUT EXSTREEMLY tiring. It’s 1.30am now and I am still awake commenting. Need sleep. π
Badz!! Go to sleep!! what are you doing commenting at 1:30 am!!!!!
You sound as if you had a full and fun weekend too π despite having to work on sunday and monday? So now that you are back – will look forward to your comments – the one you promised π You know, I am waiting for you too start blogging:) when do your exams get over?
I know. That was/is at the back of my head to do list. I will leave that comment. π
Exams start from 18th May til 4th June. π¦ BUT yes after that I will try and start blogging. π
Oh great! Will wait for 4th June π
ha… had a great weekend… nice to know.. π
and you have to read really fast to complete those 1000+ unread posts… all the best π
and I didn’t add one to that and that’s a smal help from me π
Yes, Kanagu – Thanks for that π How was your weekend? Waiting to hear in full detail π Did you have a good time ?
yeah had a really great time Smitha… but its hot there too π¦ will post it in detail next week as now its quite hectic for me… one info now.. we stayed in a house in sultan bathery π
Oh great! So you stayed in Sultan bathery π I know, it did rain on Monday apparently π Waiting for your post π
Lucky you Smitha.. frnds like that are what is needed in life.. one can talk and talk and just enjoy the moments… but then they come and go from our lives for no reasons at all…nd you are only left with memories….
Asha, i agree.. Friends definitely make life much more pleasant, don’t they?
‘but then they come and go from our lives for no reasons at all…nd you are only left with memories….’ – Yes , that too.. And with our lifestyle – we also lose contact with some very close friends too π¦ Wish it were not so..
I enjoy this way with my sisters:), we talk so much , that my dad used to say that put these sisters together and no work will be done:)
Renu – You are so lucky you have sisters!!! I have always been envious of sisters and had always wanted a sister π¦ It is such a magical bond, isn’t it?
Hey, came visiting. π
those flowers on your header are just bewitching!
Will be back for more…
Welcome here JLT π The flowers are from my mom’s garden and I love seeing them here – reminds me of the lovely time we had there π
Do keep visiting π
hey π that sure was a rocking time you had π me too spent last weekend at friends lace and played ‘monopoly’ till 3 in the morn π so cud understand the cheer u had π
Verbivorehere – Welcome!!! Monopoly, till 3 in the morn! -now you’re making me jealous!!! I haven’t done that in ages! Have to do that sometime soon π Do drop by again π
Like said by others..envy your weekend :-)…sounds like fun. Reminded good old days when we used to have pure fun[no alcohol n other harami stuff :P] in night outs. Going for walks, eating at road side shops..friends..they make a huge difference
Welcome here Nautankey π It was fun π and it did have alcohol – though in limited quantities π No other ‘harami stuff’ though π Going for walks, eating at road side shops – those are the best!!! We used to do a lot of that in London and Bangalore – here not so much π¦ Friends make all the difference, don’t they? Do keep visiting !
Lucky you Smitha. Such weekends always end a little too fast. Do we expect a post about how you are getting that food that you ate and ate out of the system?!
LOL π The thing about ‘ a post about how you are getting that food that you ate and ate out of the system?!’ is that it would be extremely boring given the fact that I just can’t seem to start working on it π But thats an idea = maybe I should start working out – just to write a post π Talk about blogoholics π
Hey Smitha, I am so jealous now…Thats my idea of a perfect weekend with friends. Lucky you, you have great friends dear. This post reminded me of my college and hostel days, long night outs on the terraces, singing, talking, listening to music..just wellapanti you know…Friends make a huge difference in our lives. So true
Oh, Nids – I had such fun after a long time.. Ever since we moved from London – it was quite boring π¦ This was quite a change π It has been some time since I stayed up at night too – These days I collapse in bed at 9:00 and am asleep in minutes π
And u make me green with envy π¦
Great weekend you have had…Aren’t we lucky to have friends who we so easily connect to, They enrich our lives just by being there.I have friends whom we have not met for years..and when we met, we just picked up threads from where we left, and then it felt as if we had never been apart. Friends I know , our my direct blessings from God.
Glad u are back to blogging…And Congratulations for clearing part 1 of your driving test.
