Confessions..

of sorts..

First of all, I have been rather tardy with passing on awards and taking up tags. So I decided that enough is enough, it is time that I take up some pending tags and pass on some of the awards. Being extremely lazy, I decided to get a start on the most recent ones and then dig up the archives and pick up the older awards and tags.

Kanagu passed me the Honest Scrap tag.

HipHopGrandma ( I love your name :)) has been kind enough to passย  me the Kreative Blogger award.

Rajlakshmi passed me the Blogger Buddy Award.

Thank you so much Kanagu, HHG and Rajlakshmi, I am so honored.

Kanagu demands that I write down 10 things about me while HHG’s award says that I need put down seven unknown things about myself. I have decided to combine both of these (kreativity, you see ;)).

Now for the difficult part – trying to find 10 things that I have not said already on this blog.

1. I sometimes get worked up on the craziest of things and in that state, am fully capable of making a mess of things I could normally do with my eyes closed.

2. I am quite cowardly in some ways. There was a particular thing that I had been trying to overcome my fear of, and am glad to say that I managed it do it finally, a few days back.

3. Can I talk about how much I like reading? No? ok, just trying! The time in the day, I hate most, is when I have to decide what to cook! I hate it! I have no inspiration when it comes to cooking ! Thank god for internet and to be able to search – Indian meals ideas. Seriously, what would I do without the internet? How would I have survived if I had been born a few decades back?

4. I can never resist the temptation to check my weight after exercising – despite the fact that it never changes – but I am always optimistic, so what if it was a 10 minute exercise session after a 2 weeks of inactivity.

5. I can spend hours researching stuffย  – like I did yesterday for Poohi’s school admissions. So much so that I had to drag myself to bed – I was that hooked on researching. But I do this very rarely and only if I find it all that important.

6. The number of windows open on my laptop causes husband to sigh in despair. He refuses to understand that I actually multitask between these windows.

7. Although I have had enough of snow to last me a lifetime, I still can’t help be a tiny bit thrilled when I see a fresh layer of snow in the mornings. There is something magical about it and daughter and I can watch it for hours, our faces glued to the window pane.

8. I love orange flavoured chocolates, cakes and I LOVE marmalade.

9. I can’t believe that I am stuck at the second last point! Thank god I decided to combine both the tags, I would have died if I had to do two separate tags on myself. I have so many un-attempted tags that I am almost scared to look.

10.ย  I like to peek at the end of the book I am reading, every once in a while. Sometimes because I want to know that everything ends well, and other times, when the book is unbearable, and I want to know if it is worth reading through.

Now for passing on the tag. Most of the folks I know, seem to have done these or are already tagged to do them, so I am not passing them on to anybody. But if any of you want to take this up, please do and please do leave a link if you do. I would love to read. As for the awards, anybody who comments on this post gets them ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. “Although I have had enough of snow to last me a lifetime…”

As you mention, the first snowfall is still quite charming. Then it they shovel it on to the corners of the streets and it turns into icky slush.

Yes, there is something about it, isn’t there?

    Nice post.
    Thank you, and welcome here.

    • I meant I never peek at the end of the book to see how it ends and stuff ๐Ÿ˜€ Somehow can’t get myself to do it

I used to be like that – but somehow, I have started it recently ๐Ÿ™‚ Earlier, I used to never give up on a book- but have started doing that lately – can’t seem to read through a back/boring book anymore.. Getting old, I guess ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. orange flavored chocolates?? why?? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t know, I just love the combination of orange and chocolate ๐Ÿ™‚ You know the Jaffa cakes sort of stuff.

Loved reading this! Learnt so many new things about you, Smitha!
And each one of those awards are so well-deserved! Congrats!!!

    Thank you, Piper ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Hmmm, toh aap Internet se recipes leti hain??? Whats new? we all do that. ๐Ÿ˜‰ And I hate deciding on the menu too, such a drag.

recipes toh are always from the net ๐Ÿ™‚ But even deciding on what to cook is based on what I find on the net ๐Ÿ™‚

    Nice post. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Thanks GM ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. 1. So we shall blame the salty cookies on this one kya? ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Absolutely ๐Ÿ™‚

    2. What was that damn fear? ๐Ÿ˜ฏ I have a list of them too and have no plans of overcoming most of them…kudos to you!!

This was an irrational, stupid fear, which I am better off having overcome ๐Ÿ™‚

    3. Welcome to the Desperate for Cooking Ideas Housewives club  It’s the same with me. I take hours to decide on what to cook and then all it takes is a few minutes to cook up that dish ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

I know! Finding something to cook is by far the most difficult thing ever ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

    6. ๐Ÿ™‚ Is there a smiley for beaming with pride?

I knew I would get this reaction from you ๐Ÿ™‚

    7. You deserve a big bear hug from me for this ๐Ÿ˜›

    big bear hug back ๐Ÿ™‚

Last but not the least as I have put the longest comment; how many awards can I sneak off from here?

All the awards you like – go to my awards page and take anything that catches your fancy ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I can’t understand your love for orange flavoured chocolates but hey, it’s your choice…From now on, I’ll call you Smitha O…

LOL! Orange flavoured chocolates seem to be nobody’s favourite.

I’m with you on no. 10…This habit of mine irritates my husband to no end…

You too ๐Ÿ™‚ I never used to do it – but have started recently.

  6. oh well i cant stan orange flavored chocs and rest i could have said a ditto ๐Ÿ˜€

Orange flavoured choc does seem to be a non-favourite ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Ditto for the rest ๐Ÿ™‚ Same pinch ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. You do a peek-a-boo of the end of the book?? :-O I can not believe this!!! Sigh!!! I did it only with one book which was too thick & slow to finish ๐Ÿ˜‰

BTW is it the magic of our names of sun sign that we are alike on point 1??? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Are you sure you will be digging your archives & doing the old tags?? Bolo bolo tell tell!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜›

  8. 1. LOL… ๐Ÿ˜† thats why I am not doing anything ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
    2. Same here… but its good that you managed to overcome it.. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
    3. ha ha ha… without internet there is no life now.. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
    4. Its been ages I have checked my weight… I am feared of fainting seeing it… ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
    5. Yeah.. we know.. Poohi’s admission, your house hunt… so did you got a good one, Smitha??
    6. LOL… ๐Ÿ˜†
    7. you are lucky… ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I am yet to experience it…
    9. is that a point?? Unqualified.. LOL.. ๐Ÿ˜†
10.Me too do that.. and in HP 5 book I found Sirius dead at the start itself ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Nice to read about you SMitha… loved the tag… and thanks for taking up.. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

and yeah… I am receiving Kreative and blogger buddy award.. thank you,… I am honored ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

  9. Sigh! This is a reminder for me too ๐Ÿ˜›
I hv so many tags pending that ppl hv probably stopped tagging me ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

    2. Thatz nice ๐Ÿ™‚ Congrats ๐Ÿ™‚

    3. Internet is such an indispensable part of life no ๐Ÿ˜‰

    4. Optimism rules ๐Ÿ˜‰ Kudos to u ๐Ÿ˜€

    6. Same here .. work, mails, blogs, banking .. I do all of them simultaneously sometimes and blame it on my Gemini nature ๐Ÿ˜‰

Snowww … I so want that ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Unfortunately, I hv to travel way up north to even see some ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I hate anything orange flavoured except natural oranges .. nt sure y ๐Ÿ˜›

    10. Oh u do that .. I only count hw many pages r to go if I don’t like the book. The weird thing is that I cannot put a book down even if its horrible. Once I start, I hv to complete it ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well done Smithu and congrats on the awards ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. I need to do this tag too!
Ok, I’m doing this tag today! Sigh.. have been postponing this long enough! Months actually!

Same here – I have so many pending tags that i am scared to look ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I like Orange flavor too! Marmalade is the only flavour of jam I like!
Mixed fruit doesn’t have charm if you ask me! ๐Ÿ˜›

I so agree! I just can’t stand mixed fruit! I can have strawberry instead – but never mixed fruit ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

And yea, I peek at the ending too if its too thick a book and I lose interest half-way but curious to know if the hero/herione etc die in the end!!!

    You too, Pixie ๐Ÿ™‚
    Nice read Smithus!
    Thanks Pixie ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. 2 . Congrats ..I have long list of fears to overcome ๐Ÿ™‚
I still have a lot to overcome, happy that I managed atleast one ๐Ÿ™‚

5 . ditto like me..i sometime get lost in world of internet searching for one thing ..then found something related more interesting and this goes on and on ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I know! I just forget the time and everything ๐Ÿ™‚

10 . Peek a boo for book..never done this so far..I do other way around..i start skipping pages if they are not interesting ot sometime too much explanation of simple thing to finish the book asap..

LOL! I don’t do that, but I have started peeking at the end ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  12. I can never resist the temptation to check my weight after exercising โ€“ despite the fact that it never changes โ€“ but I am always optimistic, so what if it was a 10 minute exercise session after a 2 weeks of inactivity.’

Hahaha many are here to openup on this topic and in these lines, Smitha! I am one!

    ๐Ÿ™‚ You too ๐Ÿ™‚

I saw it firsthand 2 years back when I came there…it was beautiful and I can understand why you are still thrilled to see it!

I know, there is something about it, which I cannot describe ๐Ÿ™‚

I too love orange marmalade and I alway keep stock…sometimes I am tempted to have a tsp. of it just like that, when I am too bored!

You too! Hugs!!! I just love orange marmalade ๐Ÿ™‚

I never look at the last page, till I finish the book. I think twice before I start reading a book, but once I start I finish it whether I like it or not…sometimes I curse myself why I am taking so much trouble to finish a boring book!

I never used to do it, but have started it lately ๐Ÿ™‚

I think I have nearly done the tag! It was nice knowing more about you, Smitha!

Waiting to read your tag ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Interesting ones ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ About #10, naughty you! ๐Ÿ˜›

I know, but I think I have become far less patient these days ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Congrats on your awards plus tags!!!:) I enjoyed reading your list..especially since I think I’m quite the opposite of you. Only 1,2,3 seemed somewhat similar.

    Really ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
What caught my fancy was your multi-tasking abilities. Were you able to do it even when you weren’t yet a mother?? Somehow I suck(in caps) at that. I cannot have more than 3-4 windows open. If I do, then BP shoots;-O

I always multitasked. When I was working, I used to multi-task much much more.. So I am afraid, motherhood has nothing to do with my multi-tasking ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. loved reading you…

dont know why men hate to see multiple windows! cant think of working with just one. .it would be so boring ๐Ÿ™‚

I know!!! Glad somebody else thinks so ๐Ÿ™‚

love oranges.. nd even I have reached the stage where I take a peek at the end of a book..
I think it is because I have less time to waste – if it is not worth it, I rather stop reading the book ๐Ÿ™‚

thanks for the Awards Smitha ๐Ÿ™‚

You are welcome, Happy Kitten ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. ‘Peeking at the end of the book’ is so cute!! I used to do that too! But Smitha, I was expecting juicier confessions … you’ve disappointed me ;-)))

    Juicier confessions ๐Ÿ™‚ I wish ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. “I like to peek at the end of the book I am reading” – i always do that. Once i am settled with the book and get accustomed to the characters, i start reading the last page/chapter.

Kanagu tagged me with this. Will do it shortly

  18. #1 – Ditto here (during my first year college days not now ๐Ÿ˜€ )

    You too ๐Ÿ™‚

#4 When ever i try to increase weight i will loose it and when ever i try to loose i used to gain

LOL! I have never had the problem of trying to increase my weight ๐Ÿ™‚

peek at the end of the book I am reading I hate that(also hate the guys who reveal the climax of movies).I love thrillers, so if i peek at the end , then there is no use for reading it ๐Ÿ˜€

Yes, I am crazy these days ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. Oh! yes I can spend hours researching on stuff online or off it and yup I too got rid of a certain fear a couple of days back! yipeee same pinch:))

    same pinch ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Perfect read in the blogworld, since a long time ..I can identify myslef with a lot of them..except the orange cakes,i hate them ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you , Nimmy ๐Ÿ™‚ You have company, most people seem to hate orange cakes ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. First of all, congrats on all those awards !!!

Let me get into the tag now ๐Ÿ˜€

    2. Oh Cmon. What is it ? Do you wanna come up with it yourself or…….. ?? Buhahahahahaha !!!
    4. All of us do this. You arent alone ! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
    6. He refuses to understand because hes already understand you well ! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
    8. I hate to admit this. But me too !!! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
    9. Cheating….this isnt even a point !!!
    10. you shouldnt be going for movies also then !!! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

  22. Congratulations for the awards ๐Ÿ™‚
Am with you on 4 and 8 (except that I get very guilty if I don’t work out for two days in a row)

I simply love orange rind in all baking goodies as far I can make it ๐Ÿ™‚ Your tag tempted me to give a vanilla cake with orange rind a shot right away ๐Ÿ˜€

I am with Vimmuuu that you cheated at point 9 ( that wasn’t even a point )

As far undone tags go, my list is very long too. At times I am short of ideas and at others I am in the middle of my fiction stories ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I never peek at the end of the book except to check the total number of pages before starting to read ๐Ÿ™‚

    Tag well done ๐Ÿ˜€

  23. Such an avid reader and you still like to take a peak of the ending? ๐Ÿ˜€

And if you’d been born a few decades back, you’d still be doing what you are doing now about cooking, just that you wouldn’t be 30-something but maybe 50-60 something !!!

  24. I am so with you on the “unable to decide what to cook”. Some days the mind just draws a huge big blank, eh? I have never peeked at the end of the book. I may race through it just to get to the end but have not yet succumbed to that temptation :). And Congratulations on all the awards ๐Ÿ˜€

Huge blank is an understatment for me – and it happens almost on a daily basis for me – I just hate deciding what to cook ๐Ÿ™‚ I never used to peek, until recently when I had a spate of bad/boring books.

Where have you been, Dreamer? No new posts ?

  25. 1. Yes, yes – when someone peeks what I am cooking, it’ll be a certain disaster.
    2. Come on, tell us abt it. You might inspire some cowardly ppl, like me to shake it off. ๐Ÿ˜‰
    3. Oh !!! I love to try on new recipes. My daughter is my inspiration !!! Dont u worry – You might start cooking without internet, and based only on Poohi’s demands.
    4. LOL !!!! I think most women are like that !!! ๐Ÿ™‚
    5. You shld have become a research scholar !!! LOL ๐Ÿ˜†
    6. Women generally are multitaskers, right ??? He shld know abt that aspect of you, by now !!!!
    7. Right indeed !!! I wish to be in some place, just to see the fresh snow !!!
    8. OOPS !!! No orange flavour for me !!! Marmalade – had it once in some restaurant – not very fond of !!!!
9.Not bad, you’ve come this far.
    10. Hey !!! Thats not fair !!! How can know the ending and read ???? ๐Ÿ˜‰

There you go !!! I missed commenting here when I read it yday !!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. I could say ‘ditto’ to so many of them..

in fact your reason for peeking at the end is exactly how I would have phrased my excuse ๐Ÿ™‚

BTW I had a book called “Cooking for Brides, Bachelors, and those who hate cooking” , which had complete meal plans, besides recipes, that worked quite well when I didn’t want to think about ‘what to cook’. I am not sure of the author’s name but I think it was Rohini Singh.

Now, I have too many pointers everyday on what to make (and what not to make)

  27. congrats on the awards. I have peeked at the end of a book only once ..it was Agatha’s a pocket full of rye and I was unable to bear the suspense anymore ๐Ÿ˜€

  28. Some interesting facts u got there, smithus ๐Ÿ™‚

    4. me too!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ we’re partners in crime!
    5. hmm u shud’ve gone for a Ph.D … pretty useful! ๐Ÿ˜‰
    6. jesus christ! me too!! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ho! enikkippo samadhaanamayi!!! ๐Ÿ˜†
    7. i love the snow too… but i guess i havent seen enuff of it yet to take a judegement. i love the rain in spite of seeing it more than enuff! ๐Ÿ™‚
    10. haha! sometimes i do that too! ๐Ÿ˜†

didnt realise we had so many similarities! cheers! ๐Ÿ˜€

  29. Congrats on all ur awards!!!!! Like Sakshi I’m also waiting for my share of the loot ๐Ÿ˜€

Take whatever you like from the awards page – apna hi samjho ๐Ÿ˜‰

I too love organge flavoured choclates and cakes but not maramlade, somehow hate to bite into the zest :-/
And wow u sooooo multitask :-o…..I just cannot, max I have 2 or 3 windows open.

Oh then you should try teh ones without the zest – am sure you will like them ๐Ÿ™‚ Here you get varieties of it -no zest, very zesty etc etc ๐Ÿ™‚

Multitasking is the bane of my life – I multitask even while cooking, and I’m afraid the results aren’t always the greatest ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Enjoyed reading abt u ๐Ÿ™‚

    Thank you Nance ๐Ÿ™‚

  30. ‘I like to peek at the end of the book I am reading, every once in a while. Sometimes because I want to know that everything ends well,…….. ‘

Me too and I too cook only because my husband can’t. If like my morning coffee he offers to cook I’d gladly let him do it although I have no problem deciding. years of experience i suppose.

๐Ÿ™‚ I would do that too, offload the cooking to husband – but he happens to be worse than me ๐Ÿ™‚ All his recipes entail lots of oil and all the masalas available ๐Ÿ™‚ Am sure the years of experience comes in handy ๐Ÿ™‚

  31. congratulations on awards!..

Even i like to take a peek at the end and sometimes It makes me read the full novel comfortably, whereas other times I loos the interest to finish it.

So, what do you think?
